The dealership had to program the remote and a locksmith laser cut the key and it still turned out cheaper than the dealership cost.     I don’t know why, but things from the states always seem to arrive faster than standard Canada Post mail. The smart remote was exactly as described. I never checked with a dealer, however I guess $70.00 Canadian is far cheaper than the dealer. The only issue was that they included a card with info and links to program fobs yourself. My make model and year had to be taken in for programming no matter how many working fobs I have. The dealer and local automotive locksmiths were within $5.00 of each other for programming. The dealer included cutting the emergency key, so I went with them.

It won’t work for VW MK4s with immobilizer anti-theft system without chip (and I could not find it separately) *** Engine won’t run for more than a few seconds without chip. I found this out the hard way after I spent $30 to get it cut. Now I have a spare door access key!
