HONDA / ACURA KEY FOB REMOTES STEP-BY-STEP HOW TO PROGRAMMING INSTRUCTIONS

Minutes 5 minutes

  1. Prepare Vehicle

    ENTER the vehicle and CLOSE and UNLOCK ALL doors.

  2. Prepare Remote(s)

    INSERT the key into the Ignition, HOLD one remote in your left hand with additional remotes close by.

  3. Enter Programming Mode – Step 1

    EACH of the following steps MUST be completed within 5 seconds of one another. REPEAT these steps 4 times:

    a. TURN the Ignition to the ON (II) position. WAIT for a quiet clicking sound from the vehicle.

    b. PRESS and HOLD the LOCK button on the remote for approximately 1 second.

    c. TURN the Ignition to the OFF (I) position.

    d. During the fourth (4) cycle of these steps, the door locks should cycle LOCK/UNLOCK indicating the vehicle has successfully entered Programming Mode.

  4. Program Remote(s)

    WITHIN 5 seconds, PRESS the LOCK button AGAIN on the same remote. The door locks should cycle LOCK / UNLOCK again indicating the vehicle has successfully PROGRAMMED that remote.

  5. Program Additional Remote(s)

    To Program any additional remotes to your vehicle, REPEAT Step 4 with each additional remote one after another WITHIN 5 seconds of one another.

  6. Exit Programming Mode

    TURN the ignition to OFF (I) and REMOVE the key to EXIT Programming Mode.

  7. Trunk Release Programming

    After successful programming, if your remote has a TRUNK RELEASE Button — you will need to PRESS and HOLD that button down for 5-10 seconds for that function to begin operation.

  8. Test Remote(s)

    EXIT vehicle, CLOSE all doors and TEST all remotes. Programming is now complete.

Programming Notes:

  • Verify the following prior to following these instructions:
    • Your vehicle is equipped with keyless entry, and
    • You have a key fob remote that is compatible with your vehicle.
  • Obtain ALL remote transmitters for this vehicle.
  • If you have a remote head key with a transponder chip, this procedure will ONLY program the remote portion. You’ll need a Professional Auto Locksmith to cut and program the transponder key that will start the vehicle.
  • If you have a remote head key without a transponder chip, this procedure WILL work for your vehicle.
  • You MUST CLOSE ALL doors and the rear liftgate/trunk in order for this programming procedure to work.
  • This procedure DOES NOT work for smart proximity remote key fobs.
  • You MAY program up to 3 remotes to your vehicle.
