Free Key Fob Remote Programming Instructions for a 1997 Cadillac Seville


Time needed: 5 minutes.


KEY FOB REMOTE - VEHICLES WITH ANALOG CLIMATE CONTROL PANEL (ACCP)
Step-By-Step How To Programming Instructions:

  1. Insert Key into Ignition

    INSERT key into the Ignition and TURN to the ON/RUN position (just shy of cranking engine).

  2. Enter Programming Mode

    PRESS the OFF and WARM buttons at the same time until the vehicle displays “RFA” and then PRESS the FAN UP button. The Instrument Cluster will light up and off, then display “DIAGNOSTIC MODE” to signal successful entry into Programming Mode.

  3. Prepare System for Programming – Step 1

    PRESS the PASSENGER COOLER button until “RFA” is displayed and then PRESS the FAN UP button. IF instead, “RFA DATA” is displayed, PRESS the FAN DOWN button. IF “RFA OVERRIDE” is displayed, PRESS the FAN UP button.

  4. Prepare System for Programming – Step 2

    IF “RFA 500, NO OVERRIDE” is displayed, PRESS the FAN DOWN button. IF “RFA 501 PROGRAM FOB #1” is displayed, PRESS the FAN UP button. The Driver Information Center (DIC) will display “0” on the right side of the panel. PRESS the WARMER button on the ACCP until a “99” is displayed.

  5. Program Remote

    PRESS and HOLD the TRUNK button on the remote to be programmed. WHILE holding the TRUNK button, PRESS the LOCK button and HOLD for 1 second. PRESS and HOLD the TRUNK and LOCK buttons for a total of  3 seconds. The door locks will cycle LOCK/UNLOCK to signal successful programming of the remote.

  6. Program Additional Remotes

    To program an additional remote, PRESS the FAN DOWN button until “RFA 502 PROGRAM FOB #2” is displayed. PRESS the FAN UP button. REPEAT Step 5.

  7. Exit Programming Mode

    PRESS either the AUTO, MODE UP, MODE DOWN or RESET buttons on the Instrument Panel to EXIT Programming Mode.

  8. Test Remotes

    TEST all remotes. Programming is complete.

Step-By-Step How To Programming Instructions:

  1. Insert Key into Ignition

    INSERT key into the Ignition and TURN to the ON/RUN position (just shy of cranking engine).

  2. Enter Programming Mode

    PRESS the OFF and WARM buttons on the DCCP at the same time. The Instrument Cluster will light up and off, then display “DIAGNOSTIC MODE” to signal successful entry into Programming Mode.

  3. Prepare System for Programming – Step 1

    PRESS the FAN DOWN button until the vehicle displays “RFA” and then PRESS the FAN UP button. PRESS the FAN UP button until “RFA OVERRIDE” is displayed, then PRESS the FAN UP button.

  4. Prepare System for Programming – Step 2

    PRESS the FAN UP button once “NO OVRD RF 500” is displayed. When “PGM FOBL 501” is displayed, PRESS the WARM button and “99” will be displayed on the Driver Information Center (DIC).

  5. Program Remote

    PRESS and HOLD the TRUNK button on the remote to be programmed. WHILE holding the TRUNK button, PRESS the LOCK button and HOLD for 1 second. PRESS and HOLD the TRUNK and LOCK buttons for a total of 3 seconds. The door locks will cycle LOCK/UNLOCK to signal successful programming of the remote.

  6. Program Additional Remotes

    To program an additional remote, PRESS the FAN UP button until “PGM FOB2 502” is displayed. REPEAT Step 5.

  7. Exit Programming Mode

    PRESS either the RECIRC or RESET buttons on the Instrument Panel to EXIT Programming Mode.

  8. Test Remotes

    TEST all remotes. Programming is complete.

Programming Notes:

  • Verify the following prior to following these instructions:
    • Your vehicle is equipped with keyless entry, and
    • You have a key fob remote that is compatible with your vehicle.
  • Obtain all remote transmitters for this vehicle. This procedure will erase all previously programmed remotes. You must program all existing and new remotes that you wish to use on the vehicle at this time.
  • You may clear your keyless entry system memory by entering programming mode as shown in the steps above.

    When I try to program 97 seville key fob, codes do not match instructions. All your fobs were unavailable so I got one from Amazon. But that should no affect car codes? Any help would be appreciated ,thank you brian
