Step-By-Step How To Programming Instructions

  1. Enter Programming Mode – Step 1

    LOCATE the keyless entry receiver module. The module will be a black box approximately 7”x4”x2” with wires leading to it.

  2. Enter Programming Mode – Step 2

    LOCATE the programming connector attached to the keyless entry receiver module. It’s a white plastic connector with 2 wires and 2 terminals that are NOT plugged in to anything.

  3. Enter Programming Mode – Step 3

    AFTER locating the programming connector, JUMP the 2 metal terminals inside the plug with a suitable groundwire (paperclip). The vehicle will respond by automatically cycling the vehicle’s locks LOCK/UNLOCK and beeping the horn to indicate successful entry into Programming Mode.

  4. Program First Remote

    PRESS the LOCK button on the first remote to be programmed. The vehicle will respond by automatically cycling the vehicle’s locks LOCK/UNLOCK and beeping the horn to indicate successful programming of that remote.

  5. Program Additional Remote(s)

    REPEAT Step 4 for any additional remotes to be programmed to the vehicle.

  6. Exit Programming Mode

    REMOVE jumper wire to EXIT Programming Mode.

  7. Test Remotes

    TEST all remotes. Programming is now complete.

  • Verify the following prior to following these instructions:
    • Your vehicle is equipped with keyless entry, and
    • You have a key fob remote that is compatible with your vehicle.
  • Obtain ALL remote transmitters for this vehicle.
  • IMPORTANT: CONFIRM location of the keyless remote entry (RKE) receiver module in your Owner’s Manual. Diamante location: in the vicinity of the glove box. Galant location: attached to the blower motor above the glove box. Eclipse/Montero location: behind the panel located underneath the steering wheel (you will need to remove the panel).

Step-By-Step How To Programming Instructions

  1. Prepare Vehicle

    OPEN the Driver’s door.

  2. Enter Programming Mode – Step 1

    INSERT the key into the Ignition and TURN to the ON position (just shy of cranking the engine)

  3. Enter Programming Mode – Step 2

    PRESS and HOLD the PROGRAMMING/OVERRIDE Button (located under the Driver’s side dashboard). WITHIN 20 seconds the vehicle will cycle the door locks LOCK.UNLOCK and the horn will sound 3 times to indicate the vehicle has successfully entered Programming Mode. DO NOT release the PROGRAMMING/OVERRIDE Button.

  4. Program Remote

    PRESS the #1 Button (top left) on the first remote. The vehicle will respond by cycling the door locks LOCK/UNLOCK and the horn will sound 1 time to indicate successful programming of the remote.

  5. Program Additional Remote(s)

    REPEAT Step 4 to program any additional remotes to your vehicle.

  6. Exit Programming Mode

    RELEASE the PROGRAMMING/OVERRIDE Button and TURN the Ignition to OFF to EXIT Programming Mode.

  7. Test Remotes

    TEST all remotes. Programming is now complete.
